I also have some slabs of osage orange wood, that might make a nice pickguard. But I'm thinking I might just take some 4-600 grit sandpaper and sand that finish a little bit, then hit it with some clear nitro top coats until I get a nice smooth finish. Some wood filler for the pinholes on the back. I'm going to use my router to clean up that nasty cavity and install a Tele Bass humbucker of questionable origin.
